Priscilla's Partnership

DECEMBER 2025

"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up."

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NIV)

Priscilla and her husband Aquila are never mentioned alone in the Bible. They are always together, a dynamic duo united in purpose.

They were tentmakers by trade and powerhouse missionaries by calling. They opened their home to Paul, risked their necks for him, and traveled from city to city, planting churches. Their marriage was their mission base.

When a passionate young preacher named Apollos came through town, he was eloquent and bold, but his message was incomplete. He knew only of John's baptism, not the full story of Jesus.

Priscilla and Aquila sat in the audience, listening. They didn't confront him publicly or dismiss his zeal. Instead, they saw his raw potential, a fire that needed just a little more fuel.

Together, they invited him into their home, their lives, and their deeper understanding of the Gospel. In a beautiful display of partnership, they "explained the way of God to him more adequately." Side-by-side, they gently filled in the gaps, not to criticize, but to equip.

They used their combined wisdom to mentor and encourage, strengthening the entire early church through their shared influence. Apollos went on to become a profoundly effective leader, his ministry empowered by their faithful collaboration.

Their story shows us that powerful ministry isn't a solo act. It's a team sport, built on mutual respect and a shared goal of lifting others up.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Who is your "Aquila"? The friend, sister, or mentor you do life and faith with? This is beyond romance, it's about having someone who has your back and shares your mission. Are you trying to do everything alone? God designed us for community. Your most impactful work for God might not happen in a spotlight by yourself, but in a quiet room with a trusted friend, building something beautiful together.

PRAYER:

Lord, thank you for the people you place in my life as partners in your purpose. Help me to be a Priscilla. To build others up, to work together in harmony, and to see the power of serving You side-by-side. Show me who I can encourage today. Amen.
