“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”
— Zechariah 4:10

One evening, a woman noticed how many candles she’d collected over the years, some gifted, some half-burned, others kept “for special days” that never seemed to come. That night, after a long day, she decided to light one.

It wasn’t a big occasion. Just her, a cup of tea, and the familiar comfort of her home. The soft light flickered against the walls, filling the room with calm. For a moment, she thought about how often she waited for life to feel big before she let herself rest, celebrate, or pray.

But standing there, she realized that God never asked her to wait for perfect timing or grand moments. Sometimes, He just wanted her to light the candle. To pause, breathe, and let the small things be holy too.

Faith doesn’t always look like a breakthrough or a calling. Sometimes it looks like showing up, lighting the match, and trusting that small light still pushes back the dark.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Do you ever get the sense that only the extraordinary moments matter? Don't forget, God is celebrating your small starts, your whispered prayers, the faithful little things you do. Your obedience doesn't need a spotlight to be bright. Sometimes, the most powerful worship is just lighting a single candle on a quiet, ordinary night.

PRAYER:

Lord, teach me to see You in the small moments.
Remind me that quiet faith is still powerful faith.
Help me to light the candle, even when life feels ordinary. Amen.
